Residents of all ages can get involved in creating a large mural that pays tribute to the Grade II listed home of Erewash Museum during a one-day creative event on Saturday 10 October between 11am and 3pm.

The ‘Big Draw’ is free and will be held in the Lally Gallery at the Museum when visitors can help create the mural depicting the historic building, Dalby House, along with some illustrations of people connected to its history.

The event’s theme is ‘every drawing tells a story’ and will celebrate the Museum’s major Heritage Lottery Fund project to transform the old stables into an all-new learning and community centre.

Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:

“These are exciting times at our award winning Museum and we look forward to local people joining us for this Big Draw to help us celebrate the building’s heritage as well as the many interesting people who have been associated with it over the centuries.”

The event is suitable for people of all ages and there will be small versions of the work for children to take home. The day has been organised as part of the international Big Draw event – the world’s biggest drawing festival with events held in museums, outdoor spaces and many other venues.
